State-owned EVN’s transmission subsidiary EVN NPT and South Korean power utility Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have signed an agreement to extend their energy cooperation deal for a period of three years. Under the deal, both the utilities will focus on the key areas – power transmission; power quality and power system operation; development of human resources; and quality management through information exchange, conferences, and training courses. KEPCO will provide consulting services to review the programmes implemented by EVN NPT and suggest appropriate measures to achieve greater efficiency in investment, to ensure the stability, reliability and sustainable development of Vietnam’s power transmission grids. A similar MoU was signed between the two utilities in November 2012, under which the utilities prioritised investment in smart grids, advanced transformer stations, and non-human power monitoring stations.
