The National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT), a subsidiary of the state-owned power utility EVN, has commissioned the 500 kV Song May–Phu My power transmission line. The 66 km long line passes through the Long Thanh, Cam My, Thong Nhat, Trang Bom, Vinh Cuu, and Tan Thanh districts. The line that entailed an investment of 665 billion dong was funded by the World Bank, the Vietnam Development Bank, and NPT. It is a part of the 14,766.1 billion dong Second Transmission and Distribution Project that aims to develop an efficient electricity transmission and distribution system in order to eliminate bottlenecks in the 500 kV and 220 kV transmission systems, as well as maintain system security/reliability and power quality.
