Central Project Management Board (CPMB), a unit of state-owned Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), has recently announced its target to complete construction of the 500 kV, 209-km-long Doc Soi‒Pleiku 2 transmission line by March 31, 2021.

The aforementioned line is a component of the VND12,000 billion, 500 kV Vung Ang–Doc Soi–Pleiku 2 (Circuit 3) project, which is a 742-km-long line project being developed to tackle the overload in the existing 500 kV Circuits 1 and 2 of the transmission line. Circuit 3 focuses on power transmission from the Quang Trach electricity centre to the national electricity system. While the EVN’s subsidiary National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has invested in the project, the CPMB on behalf of EVNNPT, is responsible for project management.

CPMB has been facing timeline delays due to site clearance issues and plans to ramp up the construction process for the Doc Soi‒Pleiku 2 line. The completion of the other two line components, namely the 32-km-long 500 kV Quang Trach‒Vung Ang and the 495-km-long Quang Trach─Doc Soi lines, are also planned for June 2021.
