The Vietnamese government has asked the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam and relevant agencies to implement a project to connect Ly Son Island, off the shore of Quang Ngai central province, to the country’s national grid. The island would be linked to the national grid with a cable line – 9.5 km will run on the mainland, 26 km under the sea, and 2.5 km on the island. The cable is likely to start from the 110 kV Dung Quat transformer station and end at the An Vinh commune in Ly Son district.
