Vietnam Railway Transport Joint Stock Company (Traravico), a member of Vietnam Railways Corporation, is targeting around 1,500 containers annually on an international rail freight service linking Vietnam with Hebei province in China. The service has been operating for more than a year, with Traravico organising rail transport in cooperation with domestic and international partners.
The China-linked service has reduced transit times from more than 20 days to around five to seven days. The shorter transit time is intended to reduce logistics costs and improve supply-chain efficiency for importers and exporters. Traravico plans to expand its cargo base, improve service quality and optimise train schedules, while exploring extensions to central and southern Vietnam.
Vietnam’s railway network provides freight connections between major industrial centres, seaports and logistics hubs along the North–South corridor, including Song Than, Trang Bom, Dieu Tri, Da Nang, Vinh, Giap Bat and Yen Vien stations. International rail services also connect Vietnam with China through the Dong Dang and Lao Cai border gates, providing access to markets in China, Central Asia and Europe.
Traravico plans to continue working with domestic and international partners to develop the China-linked service as a wider rail logistics corridor. The company also intends to pursue digital transformation, strengthen operational capacity and develop an integrated rail logistics chain to support international trade and reduce transport costs.
