The Government of Vietnam has visited several advanced technology and transport infrastructure facilities in Singapore on May 30, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in innovation, digital transformation and urban transport development. The visit focused on Singapore’s experience in fostering technology adoption, industrial innovation and railway system management.
During a visit to the A*STAR Model Factory, To Lam examined Singapore’s approach to enabling businesses to test advanced technologies before large-scale deployment. The facility serves as a manufacturing laboratory where companies, research institutions and policymakers can evaluate Industry 4.0 solutions, including the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), autonomous robotics and smart manufacturing systems. Vietnamese officials highlighted the potential application of similar models in Vietnam to support sectors such as semiconductors, supporting industries and high-technology manufacturing, while strengthening links between research and industrial production.
The delegation also visited the Singapore Rail Test Centre, a dedicated facility for testing and evaluating metro trains, signalling systems and railway technologies. Vietnamese officials noted that the centre offers valuable lessons for the expansion of metro networks in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, particularly in areas such as workforce development, rail system maintenance and the application of digital technologies to improve operational efficiency. The visit forms part of broader Vietnam–Singapore cooperation in areas including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, smart manufacturing, innovation and high-technology workforce training.
