Vietnam-based Green and Smart Mobility (Green GSM) has launched operations in the Philippines with an initial USD500 million investment, deploying 2,500 electric VinFast vehicles in Metro Manila. Backed by VinFast, the company plans to expand its investment to USD1 billion over the next three years, aiming to generate up to 70,000 jobs across the country. The move is aligned with government efforts to modernise public transport and promote electric vehicle adoption.

Green GSM will operate a hybrid taxi model, offering both app-based and street-hailing options. The fleet includes the compact VinFast VF 5, which has a range of 326 kilometres. The Philippine government targets 2.4 million EVs on the road by 2028 and 50 percent EV adoption by 2040, making Green GSM’s entry a timely addition to national goals.
