Construction has commenced on a series of major transport projects in Ho Chi Minh City, including the widening and improvement of National Highway 1 between Kinh Duong Vuong Street and the former Tay Ninh provincial boundary at a cost of more than USD257 million. Work is also planned to widen National Highway 13 between Binh Trieu Bridge and the former Binh Duong provincial boundary, with an estimated cost of nearly USD242 million.
The largest project is the USD5.16 billion rail link between Thu Thiem and Long Thanh. Overall, work is underway on 11 new transport projects in Ho Chi Minh City, while five new links have opened. Meanwhile, approval has been granted for the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road 5, a nearly 350-km route expected to cost more than USD11 billion and scheduled for completion by 2035.
