The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has awarded a grant of PHP118 million to NOW Telecom Company Incorporated to develop 5G infrastructure in the Philippines. The grant will finance a feasibility study and pilot project at sites in Metro Manila to develop a 5G and fixed wireless network in the country. The telecom company will also provide data to inform larger scale deployment.

The grant is a part of the Government of the US’ digital policy aiming to improve secure digital infrastructure as well as facilitate open digital societies in the Indo-Pacific region.
