Unified Leyte Geothermal Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Development Corporation, has refused to accept the power supply management contract awarded by the government for the Leyte geothermal energy facility. The facilities of Unified Leyte, located in Ormoc City and the town of Kananga in West Leyte, have suffered severe damage due to Typhoon Yolanda. As a result, the company does not meet the physical and economic conditions of the bidding process. Therefore, it cannot execute the independent power producer–administrator agreements.
