The Hanoi government has granted approval for the development of two urban railway projects worth VND 106 trillion to expand the city’s public transport network amid rising demand. The two projects are Line No. 3 from Hanoi Railway Station to Hoang Mai district and Line No. 5 from Van Cao to Hoa Lac. Line 3 will have seven stations and a total length of 8.7 km with an underground section of 8.13 km. The construction on Line 3 is expected to begin in 2022 with completion scheduled for 2028. The development of the line will involve an investment of VND 40.57 trillion. Line 5 will have a length of 38.43 km with a 6.5 km underground section. It will have 21 stations with six of them being underground. The project is scheduled for completion by 2025 and will require funds amounting to VND 65.4 trillion.
