Two local companies, Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited and PTT Tank Terminal Company, have submitted bids for developing the third phase of Map Ta Phut port in Rayong. To be undertaken on a PPP basis, the project cost has been estimated at THB 55.4 billion. It is being implemented as part of the government’s Eastern Economic Corridor project.
The port will be developed in two stages. Under the first stage, the port area will be developed at a total cost of THB 47.9 billion. Of this, THB 35 billion will be provided by the private partner while the remaining THB 12.9 billion will be provided by the government. The first stage is expected to be completed by 2025. Under the second stage, wharfs worth THB 7.5 billion will be developed.
