Tuas Power has announced plans to commence construction works on USD9 billion worth of solar power plants on Galang Island in Indonesia in 2024. The Energy Market Authority (EMA) is set to receive the company’s proposal to supply the energy generated to Singapore by the end of November 2023. Export of the green energy is scheduled to commence in 2027. 

Works under the first phase will start in March 2024 and will be located on Galang Island. The first solar power will have a capacity of 2.55 GWp and will also feature a 7 GWp battery-energy storage system (BESS). Works on Phase II will commence after the first solar farm begins operation in 2027.
