The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has allocated THB389.75 billion to finance transportation infrastructure projects across Thailand in 2024. A total of 64 projects are expected to commence commercial operations while construction is set to start on 31 new projects during the year. Additionally, 57 new projects are also planned to commence in 2025 at an investment of THB263.016 billion.

Some of the key projects that will be undertaken during 2024 include the construction of the Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani high-speed railway (HSR), which is expected to be completed in 2028, the expansion of the Bangkok Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system which is expected to be completed in 2026 and the construction of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) HSR network which is expected to be completed in 2030. The EEC HSR will be constructed in three phases and will connect Thailand to China, Laos and Malaysia.
