The Toyo-Thai Corporation, a JV between Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corporation and Italian-Thai Development, has announced its plans to invest about $2.7 billion to develop a 1,280 MW coal-fired power generation facility in Myanmar. The proposed facility is likely to be developed in the state of Mon. The design and construction of the power plant will be initiated once it is approved by the Myanmar government. The company will utilise its own money to fund the project. Moreover, the Toyo-Thai Power Corporation, the Singaporean arm of the company, will support the project following its listing on the Singapore Exchange.
