France-based TotalEnergies has completed the installation of the second phase of a solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop installation at PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk’s (CAP) facilities in Indonesia. The new solar PV system will power 15 per cent of CAP’s warehouses, laboratory and office buildings’ energy needs. These facilities have been powered through solar energy since August 2019. The new solar installation will boost solar power capacity by more than 50 per cent. This is expected to result in higher cost savings and a reduction in carbon footprint of up to 1,080 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.

The solar system has 3,146 PV panels installed on 6,350 sqm of rooftop. The total system capacity is 1,153 kWp and is expected to generate around 1,500 MWh of renewable electricity (RE) per year. The solar power generated from the rooftop systems will also be used to charge electric vehicle (EV) forklifts at the CAP’s facilities.
