Ayala Land Incorporated, through its retail electricity supplier (RES) unit, DirectPower Service Incorporated (DirectPower), has been authorised to procure renewable energy (RE) from geothermal facilities in the Philippines. This has been granted under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) green energy option program (GEOP). AP Renewables Incorporated’s Tiwi power plant will deliver 130MW of RE while the Makban geothermal project will deliver 230 MW of RE, jointly providing 360 MW to DirectPower.

DirectPower recently became the 13th RES to have joined the GEOP.  It’s also the second Ayala Land company to participate in the initiative, following AC Energy Corporation.

DirectPower will now meet the needs of the contestable users whose consumption is high enough to allow them to pick their electricity providers under the terms of the GEOP.
