TotalEnergies ENEOS has completed the installation of a 1.9 MWp solar rooftop system at SteelAsia’s Meycauayan plant in the Philippines. The project is part of SteelAsia’s decarbonisation strategy and features over 3,200 solar modules, generating around 2,700 MWh of renewable energy annually. Under a 10-year agreement, TotalEnergies ENEOS funded, installed and will operate the system, with SteelAsia purchasing the electricity at no upfront cost. This initiative is expected to cut SteelAsia’s carbon emissions by approximately 2,300 tons of CO2 per year while lowering energy expenses.
The project aligns with SteelAsia’s broader commitment to integrating renewable energy, complementing its existing geothermal-powered operations in Calaca and Compostela. The financing model, requiring no initial investment from SteelAsia, reflects a growing trend in renewable energy adoption, enabling companies to access cost-effective and sustainable power solutions.
