Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens Energy to advance the decarbonisation of its thermal power plants by utilising green hydrogen produced from renewable energy (RE) resources.

As per the MoU, TNB will provide knowledge and expertise as well as resources in hydrogen-based power generation, with a specific focus on green hydrogen production using an electrolyser and pumped hydro and solar energy.

Under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), hydrogen and ammonia co-firing is recognized as a flagship project.
