The Ministry of Transport of France has reaffirmed France’s commitment to assisting Vietnam in developing the North-South high-speed railway in Hanoi. Both governments acknowledged the long-standing transportation cooperation between their countries, particularly in railways and airports. The collaboration includes past projects like the Nhon-Hanoi urban railway line and ongoing joint efforts in aviation and maritime infrastructure.
France to contribute expertise, technology, and concessional loans to Vietnam’s railway modernisation efforts. He also highlighted France’s extensive experience in high-speed rail, citing its 2,500 km network and 130 million passengers transported in 2024. Later, at the Vietnam-France high-speed railway workshop, he described the project as a transformative step in Vietnam’s sustainable development goals for 2030 and 2045. Discussions covered challenges in financing, technology transfer, and institutional frameworks, with both sides agreeing to enhance cooperation in railway modernization and human resource development.
