The Hanoi Department of Transport has proposed developing an intelligent transport system (ITS) to enhance traffic management and safety in Vietnam. The plan involves leasing information technology services at a cost of over VND392 billion from the city’s budget for phase 1, which will take place from 2025 to 2027.

This phase includes establishing a traffic management centre, upgrading infrastructure, and installing key technologies like cameras and traffic signal systems at major intersections. The ITS aims to support Hanoi’s goal of becoming a smart city by 2030.
