The Government of the United Arab Emirates has been eyeing strategic investments in Cambodia’s infrastructure and port development sectors, as part of the Kingdom’s sweeping plans to modernise its logistics and transportation systems.

The initiative aligns with Cambodia’s comprehensive transport master plan, which aims to unify roads, rail, air, and waterways into an integrated national system. The long-term objective: transform Cambodia into a high-income economy by 2050.

The government has outlined 174 key projects—94 road developments, 23 river transport schemes, 20 maritime initiatives, 10 air projects, and 15 gas pipeline and logistics developments—requiring a total investment of USD36.7 billion over the next decade.

The UAE’s interest signals growing international confidence in Cambodia’s infrastructure vision. Strengthened cooperation could help the Kingdom meet its 2033 infrastructure milestone and establish itself as a major transport and logistics hub in the region.
