Ho Chi Minh City’s Metro Line 2 project, stretching over 11 km and running through six urban districts, is set to begin construction in December 2025. The route will connect Ben Thanh to Tham Luong, cutting through Districts 1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh, and Tan Phu. A domestic consortium—Dai Dung Group, Construction Corporation No. 1 (CC1), and Hoa Phat Group (DCH)—has proposed to take on the project as the EPC contractor, handling design, construction, and equipment.

Initially approved in 2010 with an estimated cost of USD1.3 billion, the project’s budget was revised to over USD2 billion by 2019. Funding was originally sourced from international loans via ADB, KfW, and EIB. However, delays led to cancellation of the financing agreements. The city has now opted to fund the project through the state budget. Authorities expect to complete surveys and feasibility studies by mid-2025, select contractors by October, and start work by 2025 end. The line is expected to be operational by 2030.
