The Government of Thailand has announced plans to enhance environmental and social sustainability in infrastructure projects, notably with Phase 3 development at Laem Chabang Port, its only deep-sea port.
The project aims to increase container handling capacity from 11 million to 18 million TEUs, the project integrates eco-friendly measures and strict environmental oversight. A committee of experts and community representatives monitors these initiatives to ensure minimal environmental impact, with a focus on reducing global warming factors. In addition to enhancing port efficiency, Laem Chabang prioritises corporate social responsibility (CSR). Its CSR programs support education, health, social safety, and environmental conservation, including protecting local mangroves and coastlines.
