The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Malaysia (KETSA) is inviting interested parties to participate in its recently launched fifth round of the Large Scale Solar tender (LSS5), presenting a total capacity of 2 GW. This exceeds the capacity previously offered in the fourth round in 2021. The tender comprises four packages. The first two packages cater to rooftop or ground-mounted solar projects, each providing a maximum capacity of 250 MW. Project capacities range between 1 and 10 MW for one package and between 10 MW and 30 MW for the other.

The third package offers 1,000 MW of rooftop or ground-mounted capacity for projects ranging between 30 MW and 500 MW. Lastly, the fourth package allocates 500 MW for floating solar projects between 10 MW and 500 MW.

Interested companies or consortia can purchase the Request for Proposal (RfP) document till April 16 on the website of the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga), which runs the LSS competitive bidding programme. Proposals are due by July 25, 2024, with the solar projects anticipated to be operational by 2026.
