The Government of Japan will provide a loan of up to USD900 million to the Government of Indonesia for the construction of Jakarta’s second subway line under its mass rapid transit (MRT) system project.

The project includes the 84.1-km-long East-West Line, to be built in two phases. Construction for the 24.5-km first stage is set to begin by 2026 and will be completed by 2031. The new line will feature Japan-based technology for its vehicle and signalling systems.
