The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded Thales a contract to digitise the oldest depots on the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL) in Singapore. Thales will use advanced technology to deploy the latest interlocking system on the Bishan and Ulu Pandan Depots. This project aims to enhance the safety and reliability of the rail system in Singapore.
The North-South Line is the first MRT line in Singapore. It started operations in November 1987 and connects Yio Chu Kang to Toa Payoh. The East-West Line started operations in December 1987 as part of the North-South Line, connecting City Hall and Outram stations.
