The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has signed a partnership with ROCTEC Global Public Company to modernsze the country’s railway telecommunications system. The project, also involving SKY ICT and United Telecom, aims to improve safety, operational efficiency, and passenger services through the installation of a high-speed fibre optic network across SRT’s railway system.
Key components include building a telecommunications backbone with DWDM, IP/MPLS networks, and telephony systems, alongside the installation of 3,000km of fibre optic cables. The project will enhance communication through systems like CCTV, VoIP, and Wi-Fi, while a Network Operations Centre will manage and monitor the infrastructure. This collaboration is part of Thailand’s broader digital transformation, aligning with the nation’s infrastructure goals and future high-speed rail plans, including the high-speed railway linking to China.
