The Transport Ministry has confirmed that the plan for Phase 2 of the dual-track railway project, covering 1,249 km across six routes, is ready for review by the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC). The project is valued at THB297.9 billion.

Following, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has provided all required documentation. Following discussions with NESDC officials, the proposal will be presented to the NESDC board early next month before moving to the cabinet for final approval.

The six routes are divided into three priority groups. Group 1 (high priority) includes Surat Thani–Hat Yai–Songkhla (321 km, THB66.27 billion), Pak Nam Pho–Den Chai (218 km, THB81.14 billion), and Chumphon–Surat Thani (168 km, THB30.42 billion). Group 2 (medium priority) covers Chira Junction–Ubon Ratchathani (308 km, THB44.10 billion) and Den Chai–Chiang Mai (189 km, THB68.22 billion). Group 3 (lower priority) consists of Hat Yai–Padang Besar (45 km, THB7.77 billion).
