The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set to receive PHP196.62 billion in the proposed 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP), more than double its PHP87 billion allocation this year, according to Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman. The increase of nearly PHP110 billion represents the largest percentage hike among government agencies.

The additional funds will support major foreign-assisted projects, including the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR), Metro Manila Subway Phase I, New Cebu International Container Port, and New Dumaguete Airport. Budget has also been earmarked for new airports in Antique, Ormoc, Catbalogan, Kalibo, and Naga, alongside increased funding for Bukidnon Airport. The Department of Budget and Management said the move responds to 2025’s congressional realignment of transport allocations into unprogrammed funds.
