State-owned Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is planning to import LNG through its subsidiary to cut its reliance on the current sole importer, PTT Plc. At present, the power utility is conducting a feasibility study to develop an LNG depot on its land bank in Prachuap Khiri Khan. EGAT’s gas-fired power plants consume around 65.12 mcm of natural gas per day, which constitutes 45 per cent of the country’s overall gas demand.
