Thailand’s National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) has been discussing plans with the governments of Indonesia and Malaysia to prepare the next Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) cooperation plan for 2027–2031.

The new five-year plan will succeed the current 2022–2026 framework, focusing on cross-border infrastructure, sustainable tourism and cities, eco-friendly agriculture, digital adoption, and workforce development. Ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to regional clean energy transition, including renewable energy development, smart grid systems, and cross-border electricity connectivity.

The plan aligns with the IMT-GT Vision 2036. Delegates reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects such as transport upgrades, port development, and customs improvements, while celebrating the IMT-GT Tourism Year Campaign (2023–2025), which has revitalised tourism beyond pre-pandemic levels.
