Airports of Thailand (AOT) has put forward a set of proposals aimed at transforming Thailand into a regional aviation hub. These proposals are intended to be part of a new agenda once the government transition settles.
Among AOT’s key moves: raising the Passenger Service Charge (PSC) by THB5 per passenger (domestic and international) to generate additional revenue of THB 200-300 million annually; renegotiating the King Power duty-free concession contracts at six AOT airports; and selecting a third operator for airplane ramps, ground support & cargo terminal services at Suvarnabhumi Airport — contracts valued at about THB67.3 billion in total.
These strategy components are designed to boost both aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenues, enhance service quality, and help AOT compete with regional airports like Singapore’s Changi. The completion of board appointments and final government approval are pending before moving forward on some of the proposals.
