The Thailand government has approved 10 infrastructure projects for four northern provinces, namely, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son and Lampang. Taken together, these projects are expected to cost THB 17.7 billion.

The approved projects are the upgradation from four to eight lanes of a 3 km section of Highway 11 at a cost of THB 100 million, upgradation from two to four lanes of a 19.15 km section of Highway 116 at a cost of THB 850 million, expansion of a 95.31 km section of Highway 1035 on the Wang Mor Pattana-Chae Hom route at a cost of THB 3.33 billion, an elevated road between Highway 1 on the Koh Kha-Samakkhi route and Highway 11 on the North-Khun Tan route at a cost of THB 100 million, rail bridge on Highway 1136 on the Muang Nga-Lamphun route to link Lamphun province with Chiang Mai at a cost of THB 300 million, the 42.95 km Mae Rim bypass road at a cost of THB 6.97 billion, the 16.32 km San Kamphaeng bypass road at a cost of THB 4.26 billion, a truck terminal project at a cost of THB 1.71 billion, the Chiang Mai smart city project at a cost of THB 60 million and a project to solve traffic problems around the Chiang Mai International Airport.
