Thailand is strengthening its pathway toward carbon neutrality by deepening international collaboration across government, utilities, industry, and technology providers. The platform brought together policymakers and industry leaders to align national ambitions with practical implementation strategies focused on renewable energy integration, grid modernisation, and digitalisation.
The national energy transition strategy centres on scaling renewables, upgrading transmission and distribution networks, and preparing for next-generation technologies such as small modular reactors (SMRs), hydrogen, and carbon capture systems. Officials stressed that while these emerging technologies show promise, most remain at pilot or early deployment stages, requiring careful evaluation of cost, safety, and long-term feasibility before large-scale adoption.
Technology partners, including Schneider Electric, were highlighted as key enablers, providing digital, automated, and SF₆-free solutions to improve efficiency and lower the economic barriers of clean energy deployment. From the utility perspective, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand outlined a phased approach that prioritises renewable integration first, while progressively testing and preparing advanced low-carbon technologies.
