Unit 1 of Jimah East Power Sendirian Berhad’s coal-fired power plant in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, has been successfully synchronised to the Malaysian grid system. Jimah East Power is a 70 per cent subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). It has also started supplying electricity to the Malaysian grid system. This is TNB’s third ultra supercritical (USC) coal-fired power plant. The project is expected to increase TNB’s generation capacity to over 14,000 MW. The first unit and the second unit are likely to commence commercial operations in June 2019 and December 2019 respectively.
