Indonesian operator Telkomsel has agreed to invest $150 million in Southeast Asian mobile on-demand services and payments platform Gojek. This marks an expansion of Gojek and Telkomsel’s multi-year partnership that has offered data packages to Gojek driver-partners since 2018. Gojek reports that its services are used by millions of consumers and driver-partners, and hundreds of thousands of merchant-partners across Southeast Asia and Telkomsel currently serves 170 million subscribers in Indonesia. Users of both platforms will have access to new product offerings, and discounts through joint promotions and product bundles. The companies also plan to collaborate on expanding Indonesia’s digital lifestyle sector and increase advertising technology services available to merchants of all sizes. The two partners also plan to work together to implement professional training programmes for Telkomsel employees and share best practices to boost Indonesia’s technology talent pool.
