Tagum Water, a subsidiary of Manila Water, won the Department of Energy’s 2024 Energy Efficiency Excellence (EEE) Awards for its commitment to energy-efficient operations. The company received the award in the Energy Management in Industries category, under the Small and Medium Industries sub-category. This recognition follows Boracay Water’s win in 2023. Tagum Water’s adoption of Artificial Recharge technology for water extraction, along with other energy-saving initiatives, led to a 43per cent reduction in energy consumption and avoided costs of USD1.18 million. Over three years, the company saved 5.21 million kWh, reducing CO2 emissions by 1,250 tons annually.
