The Tacloban Airport in the Philippines is expected to be completed by March 2024. As of September 2023, work on the passenger terminal building is 57.13 per cent completed. The project is running behind schedule due to revisions in the passenger terminal building’s (PTB) roofing, arch finishes and access ramp plans.

Construction works on the runway are scheduled to commence in December 2023, with completion set in 2024.

As per the 2024 National Expenditure Program, an additional PHP500 funding for the ongoing strip width correction will be put out for bidding in Q4 2023 or after the approval of the 2024 General Appropriations Act.

Moreover, to extend the existing runway to accommodate larger aircraft, an additional budget of PHP238 million has been allocated to the city government of Tacloban to acquire the needed land.

However, the plan for the PTB is currently pending approval, with bids set to open on October 10, 2023. Construction will start in December 2023 and is expected to be completed by December 2025.
