Switzerland-based Allseas has secured a USD180 million contract to lay pipelines for the Malampaya gas field, located off Palawan Island in the Philippines. The contract was awarded by the consortium overseeing Service Contract 38, which includes Prime Energy Resources Development, UC38, PNOC Exploration, and Prime Oil and Gas.
The project involves laying pipelines and umbilicals to connect two new wells to the existing Malampaya shallow water platform. Drilling for these wells is scheduled for 2025, with the consortium aiming to deliver new gas by 2026. This effort is part of Phase 4 of the Malampaya project, which is designed to extend the life of the gas field, in line with a recently granted 15-year contract extension.
Additionally, there are plans to drill a third well in 2025, targeting oil and gas deposits 15 km from Malampaya. In 2023, OneSubsea was contracted to supply wellheads, control equipment, and subsea production systems for this drilling program.
