Thailand-based Superblock has signed an MoU with Japan’s Energy Complex Company Limited to develop a 300 MW solar farm in Japan. The project is estimated to cost 27 billion baht ($798.11 million). To undertake the project, Superblock will set up a subsidiary in Singapore and form a JV with its Japanese partner. The former will hold 75 per cent stake in the JV. Of the total planned capacity, a 70 MW farm will be located in Chiba and Fukuoka, and is likely to be commissioned by end-2016. The remaining capacity will be online by 2017. Superblock targets to add 500 MW of capacity by end-2015 and has planned an investment of 30 billion baht during the current year.
