Sun Cable has announced the launch of the integrated project delivery team (IPDT) for the Australia-Asia PowerLink (AAPowerLink) to supply renewable energy (RE) to Singapore and Australia. Bechtel Corporation (Bechtel), Hatch, Marsh, PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia (PwC Australia), and SMEC Holdings Limited (SMEC) have been selected to form the IPDT for the SGD30.2 billion AAPowerLink project. The project will connect Singapore to a solar farm in Darwin through a 4,200 km underwater cable.

Bechtel will ensure project delivery, Hatch will manage the undersea high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system, and SMEC will oversee the solar generation system. Additionally, Marsh will provide insurance and risk management services while PwC Australia will be the main project advisor.

Construction is scheduled to start in late 2023, with the RE delivered to Darwin in 2026, to Singapore in 2027. Full capacity is expected to be attained by the end of 2028. The project is expected to generate between 17 and 20 GWp of solar power, with a portion of that being stored on-site.
