Basic Energy Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (PANELCO) to undertake studies for its proposed 50 MW solar power project in the Philippines. The project will consist of the development of both the solar project and a battery energy storage system (BESS). Works will be executed in two phases, with Phase 1 covering the initial 10 MW and Phase 2 developing the remaining, 40 MW.

As per the MoU, the companies will conduct a distribution impact study (DIS) and distribution asset study (DAS) on PANELCO’s distribution facilities and the studies will optimise and improve the reliability of PANELCO’s infrastructure.
