Trapeze Group-ST Engineering consortium has secured contracts worth over USD175 million from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to upgrade technology in Singapore’s public bus fleet including fleet management system, fare collection, and power and communications systems.

The upgrades will be rolled out gradually from Q2 2024 to 2027, covering around 5,800 buses. The technology upgrades include a new cloud-based bus fleet management system integrated with electric bus and charging infrastructure. Fare collection equipment onboard will run on a 5G network, featuring a unified display for both fare collection and fleet management.

Additionally, central junction boxes will be installed on buses to improve power distribution, while a new 5G-enabled bus transmitter system will allow faster data exchanges. These upgrades are expected to benefit commuters and pave the way for future innovations in commuter travel.
