The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has revealed plans to incorporate its subsidiary, SRT Electric Train Company, the operator of the Bangkok Airport Rail Link, into the parent business unit. The move was made to tackle the liquidity problem faced by the SRT Electric Train Company. It will need to be approved by the SRT board before being forwarded to the Transport Ministry and the cabinet for consideration. The SRT is also in the process of amending the contract with the SRT Electric Train Company to alleviate the cash crunch. Once the contract is amended, SRT will be able to allocate a budget of 200 million baht to the company. The Airport Rail Link, covering 28 km, connects Suvarnabhumi Airport to the Phaya Thai station (on the SkyTrain) in central Bangkok; it has eight stations. It commenced operations in August 2010
