The National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) has approved the 10-year solid waste management (SWM) plan of the municipality of Donsol. It is now the first town in Sorsogon province that has an approved SWM programme, in compliance with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, 2000. The municipality can now implement SWM practices such as segregation at source, segregated collection, establishment of materials recovery facilities and other recycling and composting methods. Donsol’s civic body may be required to submit additional information and annual progress reports regarding SWM strategies to the NSWMC.
