Singtel and M1 have won two pilot projects for carrying out public trials on industrial 5G uses. The two contracts were awarded by the Infocomm Media Development Authority and state-owned Port of Singapore Authority (PSA). While Infocomm picked Singtel for the trials, PSA chose M1. The telecom companies will explore usage of 5G for tasks such as remote crane and port equipment operation, and automated ground vehicle navigation. Apart from this, Singtel, JTC the Corporation and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) have agreed to look into the integration of 5G with other technologies, such as the IoT and artificial intelligence, to develop advanced manufacturing at an A*Star facility.
