Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) will launch five new city-direct bus services on December 15 to improve peak-hour connectivity between the north-east region and the city centre. The services—679, 680, 681, 682 and 683—will serve Sengkang West, Buangkok, Upper Serangoon, Compassvale and Punggol Central respectively, as part of a SGD900 million bus connectivity enhancement programme that aims to expand services across developing estates over eight years.
The new routes will offer express links to key destinations such as Orchard, Dhoby Ghaut, Novena, Suntec City and the Downtown area via major expressways including the CTE and KPE. All five services will operate only during weekday morning and evening peak periods and will not run on public holidays. In addition, LTA will extend Service 146 from December 14,2025, to loop at Kovan MRT station and Kovan Hub, improving access to the Kovan Market and Food Centre.
The initiative supports LTA’s broader goal of strengthening first-mile and last-mile access in emerging residential areas by adding targeted peak-hour capacity and reducing travel times to central Singapore.
