Government of Singapore will commence trials for renewable hydropower imports from Laos, through Thailand and Malaysia, following an agreement between Keppel Electric Private Limited and Electricite Du Laos (EDL). The pilot will involve the import of 100 MW of renewable energy (RE) which is equivalent to around 1.5 per cent of Singapore’s peak electricity demand.

The agreement between the two agencies is part of the Lao PDR-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Integration Project (LTMS-PIP), an inter-government initiative to explore the feasibility of cross-border power trade from Laos to Singapore.
