Korea-based GS Engineering & Construction has secured a $1.46 billion contract from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore to develop the East Coast Integrated Depot. This will be the world’s first four-in-one depot comprising three train depots stacked together to serve the East-West, Downtown, and Thomson-East Coast MRT lines and reception tunnels as well as a bus depot within a 36 hectare site. The facility will have the capacity to accommodate 220 trains and 550 buses.
